About Us
Wickham Bishops is a village of around 2000 people situated in a picturesque part of North Essex and surrounded by som
e beautiful woods and countryside. St Bartholonew's Church, built in 1850 by the Leigh family, is at the heart of village life. Both our churches are open throughout daylight houses and we are privileged to welcome a good number of visitors, particularly to St Nicholas in Little Braxted with it beautiful and unusual wall decorations.
Around sixty people, drawn from all age groups join us for worship on Sunday morning. Our worship is a mixture of modern and traditional styles. It is our aim to value each and every member of our church community and to support each other as we live out the Christian life together. We believe that children are the future of our church and children of all ages are welcome to all our services.
There are a number of groups and activities that take place during the week that seek to provide pastoral support, fellowship and nurture in the faith - please do check out the relevant pages on the web site to find out more.
We are very blessed to have an excellent church hall that is attached to the church and used by a number of community groups as well as for family celebrations and children's birthday parties etc.
